"All my portfolios are printed on Entrada. It's necessary that each print stands alone as a piece of art, and it's because of Entrada's weight and feel that my portfolio stands out from the rest."
If the paper ripples immediately after printing it usually isn't possible to flatten, as the base sheet has absorbed liquid from the inks and the fibers have expanded. This generally occurs on prints with a high ink load, as you have experienced.
Troubleshooting steps:
1- Was the indoor humidity high when you printed? (above 70%?) If a paper is already holding a high moisture content it can buckle when printed.
2- In Print Settings, under Advanced Media Control, set the dry time per head pass to 1.0 This gives a 1 second pause after each ink application so the paper coating can properly hold the applied ink.
3- If #2 isn't enough, you can lower the 'color density' up to about 10% to further reduce the ink load on the sheet.
OK, thanks.
I recently printed a picture with a lot of black on 17 x 22 Juniper Baryta Rag on an Epson 3880. After 2 days of drying and then putting it under weight, it still has ripples in the dark area. I'm using Moab's profile and recommended media setting, UPPPL. Any recommendations?
