Moab Support Forum > What happened to Lasal Dual Semi 330??
Unfortunately, we discontinued the Lasal Dual Semigloss 330 last year. The costs to produce the paper became prohibitively expensive as the process to treat both sides with a semi-gloss coating is difficult and results in a lot of waste. However, we would still recommend the Lasal Photo Matte 235 double-sided paper as an excellent choice for calendars that still provides the pop you experienced with the Lasal Dual. The Lasal Photo Matte is a very bright paper with a durable, smooth surface that works well for calendars and portfolios. We'd be happy to send you a sample to test. Just shoot us an email to info [at] legionpaper.com with your shipping address.

I have been making hand-crafted photo books of my work for the past few years. The Lasal Dual Semigloss 330 was the paper I used as it
had the right: feel, weight, and texture. Truly a beautiful paper. I understand the waste issue, but I'm sure photographers wouldn't mind paying more to cover the cost. PLEASE bring the paper back into production. I'd be happy to help with marketing it. I haven't found a replacement that matches it.

Has MOAB discontinued the wonderful, two-sided paper Lasal Dual Semigloss 330? I've been making gift calendars with it since Christmas 2013 and it was the perfect weight and perfect quality for my photographs of birds and beasts. I must have tried half a dozen other two-sided papers over the years - but nothing came close to the finish and style of Lasal Dual. In addition to the weight of the paper, its semi-gloss finish was more attractive than matte (images popped) or full glossy (bird feathers looked like feathers not paint).
A few years ago Ilford reduced the weight of its Smooth Lustre Duo slightly - and it became useless for making calendars. I know from experience that 300 gsm feels noticeably less substantial than 330 - and, in any case, matte paper doesn't show the colors of cardinals and orioles as does semi-gloss. So, at the last minute, I must try to find a non-Moab paper for this year's gifts.
If you have indeed stopped production of Lasal Dual Semi 330, I hope enough photographers will complain that you might reconsider your unfortunate decision.
Thank you for any information you can supply.
