Moab Support Forum > White spots/specks on Juniper Baryta

On printed photos with Juniper Baryta, I can see tiny white specks, visible almost as dust on black areas of the print. I thought that it may be dust and dusted off the paper and printer before printing. I also tried printing in another printer. But the specks persist. Is that a normal feature of the paper? What are those specks? How is it that they don’t get covered by the ink?

I posted this question, along with some photo samples on Dpreview forum here:

Did I get a faulty batch? Please help.

This should be a better link to the original post.

Alexey,
Sorry you're having issues printing on the Juniper, the photos in your other post are not the expected performance for this paper. The media setting for both your 4880 and P600 is Premium Luster, which has a default thickness of 3mm. As one final test, I'd recommend making a print on either machine with the paper thickness set to 6 (find this in Print Settings>Advanced Media Control). It is possible that the head is too close to the sheet at the default setting. If this does not make a better print, you likely have a defective box.

I tried all settings, but white specks remain. I tried another box of Juniper Baryta and it is perfect. There are not specks. What do I do with the defective box. Do I send it in for replacement? What's the procedure? Thanks.
