Moab Support Forum > grain direction for kozo and unryu

I'm planning to use Moenkopi Kozo and Unryu in a book and the grain should be parallel to the spine. I know Entrada Rag has the grain direction on the package, but I don't see that on the Kozo or Unryu. Do I need to worry about the grain-- or is it random?

Diane,
For Kozo and Unryu, grain direction depends on the size:

Rolls- grain long for both
A4 sheets: Unryu - grain long, Kozo - grain mixed
A3+ sheets: Unryu - grain long, Kozo - grain short

Dear Moab Support,
I realize this is an old thread, but I'm hoping for some clarification. I'm in a similar position as the original poster, and I happen to have the A4 size sheets of Moab Kozo. I understand what short and long grain means, but I'm not sure how to interpret "grain mixed". Does that mean within a given package, some sheets are long and some are short grain? Or does it mean some packages are either all long or all short grain? Or short and long grain within the same sheet (not sure how that would be possible).

I would appreciate some more information about this.
Thanks!

For the A4 sheets of Kozo the package may have both grain short and grain long sheets. Sorry for the confusion.
