Moab Support Forum > Cutting Moab Lasal Photo Matte 235
In our experience it's best to cut the print mounted to gator in multiple passes with light pressure initially then adding more pressure with each pass. This method produces a sort-of score that better cuts the fibers instead of having them tear away. Hope this helps.

We can also recommend using an Xacto knife or matte cutting blade for scoring and trimming. These have thinner blades than a standard utility knife and may give you a cleaner cut.

Do you think the edge can be sanded smooth? The Gatorfoam can be sanded but I don't know if the paper can be sanded. Thanks.

We have not tried sanding our photo papers, you'd have to proceed at your own risk. I would instead recommend trimming the edge again if you have the margin to do so. If you do decide to try sanding, start with a 600 grit paper and work from there.

I mount to Gatorfoam quite a bit. I find that the gator has a tendency to tear out if the blade is not extremely sharp. I use Olfa blades and a weighted straight edge. I would think you can sand the Lasal. Mount a small one and test it. The advice to use a thinner blade is useful.
I've tried cutting Gatorfoam on the Fletcher wall cutter, but it tends to slip and ruins the piece. Hand cutting is best.

When I dry mount the Moab Lasal Photo Matte 235 to Gatorfoam and try to trim the edges with a straight edge and a sharp utility knife, about 1/30 inch of the edge gets frayed and pulls away from the Gatorfoam. Any suggestions on getting a clean cut on the paper after it has been mounted to the Gatorfoam? Thanks!!
