Moab Support Forum > Problem ICC Moab Slickrock Metallic Silver 300
To create an ICC profile for Slickrock Silver using the i1 Pro or i1 Pro2 you need to use the legacy patch layout. This puts a margin space in between each patch so the instrument has a better chance of accurately reading the patches. It also helps to increase the default patch size to a wider setting so there is more ink to measure.

Many thanks.

Hi.
It worked very well thanks to you. But now I have another problem: the program i1Profiler fails to create the profile, it is blocked at 56%.
I hope you can help me again. I am also waiting for the answer from X rite.
Thank you.

I could be related to the number of patches. If you have more than 2100 or so processing time may increase. Hopefully X-Rite will have an answer for you.

Hi.
Answer of X-rite:
"Thank you for the files. I looked into the measurement data and the profile gamut… and it is unfortunately like I assumed. For this type of printing substrate the i1Profiler software is not capable to calculate a profile gamut.
The issue is, that the substrate is really out of a common white (LAB = 53.36, -4.02, -16.88). And the second issue is, that in printed areas of the chart, brighter L values are produced, than the substrate’s L value (see sample below… a yellowish/greenish patch has an L = 63.15). This causes un-logical properties, which cannot be handled by a profiling engine (the engine assumes, that the substrate’s ‘white’ has highest L value). So, I am afraid, that I cannot provide a solution for this L"
So I do not know how you have created the color profile available on your website.
Thanks

We use X-Rite hardware and i1 profiler for measurement, and profiles are created using BasicColor software. I have had success creating profiles with i1 Profiler in the past, but it often takes multiple attempts to create the profile.
