How long should I wait before stretching your canvas? Should I use a coating - and if so, do I do this before the print is stretched?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before stretching or coating your canvas print - depending how humid your environment is. If it’s humid, wait 48 hours. This allows the print to fully dry and the inks to out-gas.

Most people do end up coating their canvases, in order to offer scratch protection, UV protection and to protect the edges of the canvas when it is stretched. Eco Print Shield is a common product worth considering, and you can either roll it on or use an HVLP sprayer.

And if you do plan to coat you’ll want to do this before you stretch and after waiting 24 hours for the print to fully dry.

Of course, if you don’t want to do any of this yourself, you can always bring your canvas print to most any framer and they can coat/stretch for you.
