Moab Support Forum > Which papers use which ink sets

Do you have a list of the best ink sets to use that correspond to your papers? For example, do I use the Photo Black inks with Juniper?

July 20, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJohn

Here is a quick breakdown of our papers and related black ink:

Lasal Photo Matte = MK
Entrada Rag (all) = MK
Somerset (all) = MK
Colorado Fiber (all) = PK
Lasal Photo Gloss = PK
Lasal Photo Luster = PK
Lasal Exhibition Luster = PK
Lasal Dual Semigloss = PK
Slickrock Metallic Pearl = PK
Slickrock Metallic Silver = PK
Moenkopi (all) = MK
Kayenta Matte = MK
Juniper Baryta Rag = PK

* MK = Matte Black and PK = Photo Black

Hi, I´d like to use your great Juniper Baryta Rag with Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-1000.
Which type of paper shall I use? PHOTO BLACK is not enough information for me.
The printer offeres various kinds like "gloss", "platin", "pearl" and others.
Thanks for your help.

Frank,
All the recommended 'media type' settings for our papers are listed on the profile download page. Select your printer and you will see them listed in the center column. For Juniper Baryta Rag on the Pro-1000 the media setting is Photo Paper Pro Platinum.

Hi I have Epson sc p6000 printer but I am using primium matte paper the paper name is written Mitsubishi paper so which profile should I use and which black pk or mk pls help me

February 10, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterDeepak

If you are using a premium matte paper you would use the MK (Matte Black) ink setting on the P-6000.

As far as paper type settings, I am not familiar with the Mitsubishi paper but I use Ultrasmooth Fine Art on my P-6000 when using a matte paper (Moab Entrada).

As far as color (ICC) profiles are concerned, I can't help you with that particular paper. If you are printing Black & White then I would use the "Managed by Printer" setting. I use that for my B&W prints on all papers and I am very happy with the results. Epson's B&W print driver is excellent. For color, I'm sorry but I can't help you with Mitsubishi papers.

Since you are on a Moab forum, you may be familiar with Moab papers. Look at Entrada which is a premium matte paper from Moab for any hints. Hopefully someone from Moab will jump in and be able to help you more.

Good luck.

Deepak,
If you are using Mitsubishi paper you would need to contact them about recommended media settings. For all Moab papers, the recommended media type settings are listed on the ICC profile download page for your printer.

What happens if I use matte black ink on a metallic gloss paper?

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDana

Matte black ink is not formulated for photo black papers- it will not properly bond to the coating and can rub off after printing. We don’t recommend the use of the opposite black ink on any papers. It will also effect accuracy of color profiles.

I'm using Entrada Rag Natural 190 (roll), and my printer is an Epson SC-P900. Which paper type do I select in Lightroom Classic?

All media settings are listed on our profile download page. For Entrada on the P900 Ultra Premium Presentation Matte is the media setting.
