Moab Support Forum > Media Type: Ultrasmooth Fine Art not able to select in PS CC(2015)

I have the Lasal Photo Matte 235, at 5x7 inch size.
At the Printer Settings Window am not able to select the correct media type in photoshopCC (2015) as it is greyed out. In other paper sizes there are more options to select, but no size so far allows the Ultrasmooth Fine Art to be selected.
What is the best action to take? or work around?
thanks
Jonathan

Jonathan, this is an excellent question. The fine art media types on Epson printers will appear when you select the paper path(s) that are support by the fine art paper media type. For example, on an Epson 3880 the rear paper path is supported, and when selecting the page size there is a submenu that you can use to select where you will be placing the paper. On the 3880 when the rear (or front) manual paper path is selected then those greyed out media types will be able to be used.

Thanks for that, unfortunately the Lasal 5x7 GSM 235 is too small/thin to feed into the front or rear tray. The only tray that will take the paper is the middle sheet feeder that wont allow the media type. I have used the "enhance matte' and the Ultra premium Matte and both print to red.
Would love to be able to use the paper if its possible.

thanks.

Jonathan, Ultra Premium Presentation Matte is a great substitute for Ultrasmooth Fine Art, which puts out a similar amount of ink. The only difference is there will be a *very* subtle difference in the blacks.

Since you are seeing the prints shift to red, it tells me that something else is going on that could be interfering. I could be that the printer driver and your printing application are conflicting with each other if both are trying to institute color management. This usually shows up as a shift towards magenta, but it is a noticeable shift in color.

if that was the case then every time i print the color would be incorrect, which is not the case. I have both the entada rag natural and bright in the same size 5x7, and there is no color shifting at all. They are great. It is the icc profile paired with the Ultra Premium Presentation Matte that on the epson 3880 shifts the color. Thanks for your time.
