Moab Support Forum > Printing Black and White on Moab Entrada using an Epson R3000
Bill,
You're headed in the right direction. If you want to use Epson's 'Advanced Black and White' settings in the printer driver, you would select 'Printer Manages Colors' in PS or LR when printing. This triggers the application to send the printer driver all the information from your image file, where it is then distilled into black and white. In your Epson settings, you would select 'Advanced B&W' in the color settings, and make your adjustments there. Epson has a few videos on their site demonstrating the process- search for 'Epson advanced black and white'

OK, yeah, I found guidance on how to use the "Printer Manages Color" mode. What I was asking is what paper type from the Epson list of papers best emulates Moab Entrada. Or, does it matter?

I am continually disappointed in this site/ company for not helping answer questions as to how best print with their paper through Epson printers using the ABW choice for best black and white output. Everywhere I go I hit dead ends such as the one above.
thank you

Steve, you will always want to use our recommended media type, which can be found right next to each and every ICC profile download link on this web site. Just navigate to your printer page, then locate your specific ICC profile and then look at our recommended media type right underneath each download link. This is the same media type you will want to use, no matter if you are using the Advanced B&W mode or not.
The printing process with Advanced B&W mode on any given printer is fully documented in your printer manual, and the only piece that isn't included in the manual is which media type to use, which we supply next to each ICC profile download link.
We hope this helps.

My second post today, on a slightly different topic! So, I just bought an Epson R3000, partly because of its ability to print exceptional black and white prints. According to the Epson literature, they recommend using the Epson print menu and bypass using Photoshop to control everything. I love Entrada for color and want to use it for B&W as well. If I use the Epson print menu, what paper settings should I apply? Should I use Ultra Premium Presentation Matte as the paper setting? I tried that and it seems like the prints look OK, but am not sure if they are as good as they should be. Or, should I be getting a custom profile developed by others? I want to get the most from the R3000, but am not sure if I am doing things correctly. I am amazed how difficult it is to figure this stuff out!
