Moab Support Forum > R3000 + Lasal borderless - leaves a bottom white border

I have problem printing borderless with my 11x14" pre-scored paper from Pina Zangaro. If I choose 11x14" borderless auto expand, I still get a white border at the bottom of the print (aprox. 1/4").

Is it possible to achieve borderless??

Thanks,
B

I have a few suggestions that should help you clear up the white band:

#1- This may take a few test sheets to figure out, so if you have some extra photo paper you're not concerned about using up, cut the sheets to 11x14 so you don't have to waste book pages with test prints.

#2- With your image sized to 11x14, try the Borderless- Retain Size option instead of auto expand.

#3- If #2 fails to solve the issue, try sizing your image to 11.25 x 14.25. You will sacrifice 1/4" of content, but this should produce a truly borderless print. If this is successful but you are losing too much of your image, adjust your image size slightly smaller.

If you are printing from Lightroom, in the Layout tab of the Print module make sure your margins are set to 0 and your cell size is 11x14.

Thanks Evan for your quick reply.

A quick update to clarify, in case it helps;

If I bend the 11,75x14" sheet from Pina Zangaro to be exactly 11x14", it does print borderless. This of course, printing wise, creates a few hickups with the ink in the edge where it's bent, and not really a permanent solution.

If you know any workaround to this issue, it would be great.

I have tried "retained size" without luck. Also tried to print a larger image without luck.

Thanks in advance,
Baard

Baard,
Per our conversation, it sounds like an issue with the Epson print driver and borderless settings with the R3000.
If you can, I would try printing the pages you need to be borderless on a 17" printer (such as the Epson 3880) so the paper can be fed with the long side first, leaving the holes on the trailing edge.

Thanks Evan, this might work on the 3880 for example.

Though I tried to tape on a patch at the top (start of paper) to fake the width of an A3+ (13x19) to see if it could then print borderless at the bottom. But still the same issue. I wonder if the printer senses the paper coming to an end, if the sensor is before the actual printhead?
