Moab Support Forum > Muddy shadows Lasal Matte Paper with Epson 7880

Hi,

I've been printing on Moab Lasal Matte for many years now and until now was very happy with the quality of the prints. Recently I switched my Epson 3880 for a Epson 7880 and instead of sheets I'm printing on roll paper. Unexpected the quality of the prints dropped significantly. The prints are more dark and shadows are muddy. I tried several paper types (Ultra Premium Presentation Matte, Enhanced Matte, Ultrasmooth Fine Art Paper) but all have the same issues. I checked printer settings (photoshop to manage colors, etc) and I'm currenty out of options. Printing on other papers (Epson Matte) give better results

Is it possible that the muddy shadows are the results of a poor paper profile? Or what else could cause this problem. I would love to continue printing on Lasal Matte... Please advise.

Rgds,
Michiel

It is entirely possible that the printer we profiled does not behave in the same way as yours. On older printers we have seen the Epson print heads drift over time, even by a small amount, and that can affect output.

We are willing to create a new, custom profile for you if you are willing and able. I will email you instructions and please let me know if you have any questions at all.
