Moab Support Forum > Lasal Matte 5x7's - what media type?

The Moab Lasal Matte 235 gsm instructions state to use 'ultra smooth fine art' media type when printing with an Epson 3880, but an epson 3880 has no settings for rear feed with 5x7 and does not allow you to use fine art media type settings with the sheet feeder. So basically, I can't use 'ultra smooth fine art' for this size paper. I used Ultra Premium Presentation Matte as a proxy, but I am wondering if there is anything else I can do to obtain optimum results (a little more density in the blacks?)

Thanks!

Peter, your using Ultra Premium Presentation Matte is a great replacement for our recommended media type, as it will unlock the paper path that you are looking to use. The decrease in blacks and color gamut is ever so slight to a point where it will be difficult to notice the difference.

Similar question re: paper settings for printing Lasal Cards on an Epson 3800 not using the rear feed (which activates the "fine art paper settings"). Generally I use the ultra premium presentation matte setting @ superfine 1440dpi . Or is 'enhanced matte' setting better? @ 1440 or 720? Print dependent sometimes the darker inks can look over inked . . .
thanks!

For the Lasal Photo Matte on the Epson 3800 we recommend Ultra Premium Presentation Matte as the media setting, and it is the one to use with our profile. Generally 1440dpi is the default for this media setting and should produce very good prints at 5x7- I wouldn't recommend 720dpi as you start to lose fine detail.
