Moab Support Forum > Slickrock Metallic Silver profile for HPZ3200

I just got two rolls of Moab Slickrock Metallic Silver and was disappointed to discover that there was no preset available for the Z3200. Are there plans to create one? I can't even get past the calibration stage with this paper using the built in photospectrometer. Thanks!

Tim, we don't have access to a Z3200 any longer which is the reason why we don't have a preset you can use for your own printer. Even if we did have a preset we have always found and recommended that people create their own profile on their own unit for best results.

Since you aren't able to get a calibration on your Z3200 which media type are you using to base your preset on? I will ask around to see what other people are using to try to kick start the process for you.

Thanks. I have a feeling the characteristics of the paper are causing the initial calibration to fail, and that is a necessary step in creating a profile using the built in photospectrometer. I will see if some of the Mylar film settings might work since they do not calibrate either.

I have the same problem we need the icc profile or at least a solution of how to make the proper profile with the z3200

We have asked around and we haven't found a customer who is trying to use the paper on a Z3200 (or Z3100, for that matter). The key is the calibration, and one will probably need to try a few base media types to try out when setting up the paper, just to see what might work.

Profiling the paper with a handheld XRite device or an XRite iSis works for us, however this won't matter if the printer cannot do a calibration for the paper. It isn't a limitation of the paper, but rather a limitation of the printer. All other printers on the market work perfectly fine with the paper, and so far the Z series of printers just won't allow a calibration.

Has anyone solved this problem?

i got amazing results calibrating on a sheet of hp prem inst dry glossy.
and use that profile as well for the slickrock. smooth trasitions and great b&w grayscale and shadow detail. no need for a custom profile

I'll give that a try. Thanks for posting your results.
