Moab Support Forum > Facemounting Slickrock paper

I am creating a series of large photographs on Moab Slickrock paper. I am finishing up the presentation by having the photographs facemounted. This takes the paper and sandwiches it between a Plexiglas face and a sintra or diabond backing.

My mounting service is having trouble facemounting this paper.

Is there anyone out there who has success facemounting Moab Slickrock, specifically??

If so, who are they working with? What type of process is the mounting service using, i.e. liquid glue type of sheet glue?

Any help is appreciated,

Francis

Francis, we don't have any experience face mounting Slickrock Metallic Pearl with a dibond backing, and will forward along any information if we here anything.

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest that. The paper is rather finicky, and is extremely prone to dimpling under pressure. If you look carefully at a print after hit it with a roller or press too hard on it you will see the imperfections you have made. It was way too much for me to accept. I custom made my own face mount frames, and set the prints non destructively by sandwiching it between a sheet of 1/10th for the face, and 1/4" for the back and drilled and tapped it on 12" centers with barrel stand offs at the edges for mounting. We were cranking out 4' prints like this using 18X48 acrylic. Examples can be seen by looking at the booth photos for a show we did on our FB page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Studio-Vanitatum/110223065680243

hope this helps
