Moab Support Forum > Somerset Museum Rag 300 and Epson R1900

I am doing some paper testing for an upcoming show and got bad results with the Somerset Museum Rag 300 on my Epson R1900. Monitor is calibrated. I have correct ICC profile and used Ultra Premium Presentation Matte paper setting. Other Moab papers (Lasal Photo Matte, Somerset Enhanced Velvet 225) came out great. But using perceptual intent, Museum Rag is very washed out with gray-looking greens and blues. Soft-proofing in Photoshop CS5 did not show any out of gamut problems. I only have one more sheet in my sample pack and I hate to waste it -- am I doing something wrong or could there be an issue with the profile? This looks like terrific paper.... Help and thanks!

Tracy, it does sound like you have the right settings, but I am not seeing anything in the ICC profile that would indicate the issue is related to the profile. Please call us at 212-683-6990 x214 to help see what we can do.

Thanks for the call, Andy. I did flip the paper over just to test the other side, and that was not the issue. I am going to move on with this one and try some of the other papers instead. With so many choices it is not the end of the world. Thanks again for your help.

I'm having the same issue (R1900 printer & correct profiles). The most noticeable similarity is inaccurate green colors.

Here is a great image worth printing out that can help identify any issues:

Download and print the OnSight Color Evaluation Image. There are both subjective and objective items on the test image, and when printed out it will help identify exactly what the issue is.

Dave, I never did get this resolved to my satisfaction, which is a shame. The greens come out grayish. The evaluation image had the same problem as my own test image and even with monitor calibration I concluded there is something wrong with the profile. I gave up, but maybe Andy can offer some additional advice?

Tracy, if you are interested I can double back and try to create a new profile for you. We don't have an R1900 printer in the office, so we will have to do a custom profile from your printer. Interested?

Hi Andy. Yes, a new profile would be great. I appreciate your help.
