Moab Support Forum > Epson R3000 and Slickrock Metallic Pearl PROBLEM!

I just got a 50 sheet pack of the Slickrock and installed the ICC profile for my Epson R3000 from the Moab website. I'm printing from Lightroom 3 on MacOS 10.6 with horrible print quality. I would describe the tonal range as pathetic and assume its something I'm doing wrong. I checked, rechecked, and even tried different variations of the Print settings with the same disappointing results. The problem is most notable in people's skin - their skin is washed our to white in bright areas and very sudden transition from one color tone to the next.
ICC Profile = MOAB Slickrock Metal Pearl Epson R3000 UPPL.icc
Rendering Intent = Relative
Media = Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster - THIS could be the problem, the website says I should use Premium Luster but that isn't an option so used the closest match
Output Resolution = SuperPhoto 5760 dpi
High Speed = OFF
Advanced Color Setting tab = OFF

Any suggestions on what I should try changing?

Thanks!!

Have you tried Photo Paper Glossy just to see how the print looks like? The default Rendering Intent = Perceptual within the ICM tab. Did you try Perceptual?

There is an Input Profile and a Priinter Profile to select in Windows XP, is it the same in Mac?

I am trying out a new 3rd party ink and just installed the ICC profile. I cannot see the ICC profile from the printer properties, but the profile is in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color directory.

Ron, if you are using 3rd party inks in your printer you should contact a service provider for a custom profile. ICC profiles are printer / ink / paper specific.
