Moab Support Forum > Problems with Moab Lasal 270 using Epson 4880

Hello,

I have been trying to print using the Moab Lasal paper and am having difficulties. I checked the websites instructions for using profiles but I am still having strange results. I am using Photoshop cs5 for mac and an Epson 4880 printer. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix the problem, or is there a problem with the profile?

Thank you!

James, what kind of things are you seeing on your prints that you don't like?

I'm finding that color prints come out dark and muddy compared to what is seen on the screen.

We recommend printing the Onsight Color Evaluation Image for evaluating a printed image, as this helps eliminate some variables. Here is a link:

Please let us know how the print looks, and let's take it from there. I have evaluated our profile, and all looks good on this end, so I think that should be the next step.

I printed the color checker, using the settings from this link:
http://moabpaper.com/profile-use-in-adobe-photo_cs3/

I used Premium Photo Paper Semi-Gloss and Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster for the media type. Both results gave me a dark print. On the black and white gradient on the white, there is no difference in value from 90%-100%, they are all black. Also, on the box showing all of the color on the top left (not the grid one), there is a thick black line on the bottom, compared to a small and gradually fading black line seen on the computer monitor.

The colors, as far as I can tell, seem to be the same hues only darker in value.

In the above response, I wrote, "On the black and white gradient on the white" but I meant to say the black and white gradient on the right. Sorry!

Also, I forgot to mention that I am using the luster paper, I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not with the profile.

I am having similar problems, same printer: Epson 4880 and same paper: Moab Lasal

The prints look way too dark, contrasty and red.

I have been using the epson luster profile and have had ok results. I would prefer to use the Moab profile to fully use the paper's potential, but it just isn't working.
