Moab Support Forum > Printing with Photo Black Ink

My Printer is a Epson 4880 I'm using Moab Lasal Photo Luster Roll. Can I print black and whites on this using the Photo Black ink instead of the Matt Black ink. It's a pain to change it. And it uses a lot of ink changing from photo ink to Matt black ink . I guess what I am asking is will the prints in black and white with photo black ink look good.

Yes, you can use a matte black ink on a luster type surface, however the inks are not optimized to do this. Our ICC profiles have been developed so that the ink / paper / printer combination must be used for best quality. Since a swap out of the black ink would be the case, our ICC profile will likely not deliver the best results. I would recommend a 3rd party ICC profile for best results. One thing to consider is that the matte black ink will have less drying agent in the solution, so you may run into drying issues with the ink on a luster paper.
